East Coast Bike Hire Rental Policy
Welcome to East Coast Bike Hire.
By hiring a bicycle or any related equipment from us, you agree to the following rental terms and conditions.
1. Eligibility
* The person hiring the bicycle must be 18 years of age or older.
* Riders under 18 must be accompanied by a parent, guardian, or responsible adult.
* Valid photo ID is required at the time of collection.
* The person signing the rental agreement accepts responsibility for all bikes and equipment rented under the booking.
2. Rental Period
* The rental period begins at the agreed collection time and ends at the agreed return time.
* Bikes must be returned on time to avoid additional charges.
* Late returns may be charged at the applicable hourly or daily rate.
* Failure to return the bicycle on the same day without prior agreement may result in an additional full-day rental charge.
3. Security Deposit
* A security deposit or card pre-authorisation is be required before bikes are released.
* The deposit will be refunded/released once the bicycle and accessories are returned in the same condition, subject to fair wear and tear.
* The hirer is responsible for any loss, theft, or damage exceeding the deposit amount. (depending on the product hired)
4. Condition of Equipment
* All bikes are checked and serviced before hire.
* The customer must inspect the bicycle before departure and notify staff immediately of any issues.
* By accepting the bike, the customer confirms it is in good working condition.
5. Rider Responsibility
The hirer agrees to:
* ride responsibly and obey all road and cycle path regulations
* use the bike only for normal recreational cycling purposes
* not allow any unauthorised person to use the bike
* not use the bike under the influence of alcohol or drugs
* secure the bike with the provided lock whenever unattended
* take reasonable care to prevent damage, theft, or misuse
6. Helmets and Safety
* Helmets will be provided and are strongly recommended for all riders.
* Children must wear helmets at all times.
* The rider accepts full responsibility for their own safety while using the bicycle.
* Cycling is undertaken entirely at the rider’s own risk.
7. Damage, Loss, and Theft
The customer is fully responsible for:
* accidental damage
* punctures caused by misuse
* broken accessories
* theft or loss of the bicycle or equipment
Charges may apply for:
* damaged frames, wheels, gears, brakes, or electronics
* lost locks, helmets, keys, baskets, trailers, or child seats
* stolen bikes not secured with the provided lock
Replacement costs for lost or stolen bikes will be charged at full replacement value if necessary.
8. Weather and Refunds
* No refund will be issued due to weather conditions once the rental period has started.
* Refunds for cancellations made in advance are subject to our cancellation policy.
* No refunds are provided for early returns.
9. Breakdown / Mechanical Issues
If a mechanical issue occurs that is not caused by misuse:
* contact East Coast Bike Hire immediately
* do not attempt major repairs yourself
* we will assist with repair, replacement, or collection where possible
10. Liability
East Coast Bike Hire shall not be liable for:
* injury to riders or third parties
* loss or damage to personal belongings
* accidents occurring during the rental period
The hirer accepts full responsibility for their actions while using the equipment.
11. Acceptance
By proceeding with the booking and taking possession of the bicycle, the hirer confirms acceptance of this rental policy.
